After an overvoltage event we were called in to check what was left of the original electrical installation. We found that the air conditioning unit and both split systems had stopped working, and several coffee grinders were also bound for decommissioning after the incident. We also found there was no proper earthing installation, and that the PV system was connected directly to the grid.

We split the work into two phases. Phase 1 covered the earthing system and the external fuseboard. Phase 2 covered the main consumer unit of the house and a number of miscellaneous items around the property.

With the new system in place we can now disconnect the PV inverter from the grid. The HRN100 voltage monitoring relay and the heavy-duty contactor will keep the system safe if there is ever a faulty neutral again, and the T1+T2 surge protection guards against lightning strikes.
